The Geneva International Motor Show 2010
Geneva, 15th of march 2010 - The automobile industry presented a Geneva International Motor Show more glittering and innovative than ever. After a very difficult 2009, the manufacturers have demonstrated a tremendous capacity to adapt with their presentation of more than one hundred world and European premiers, providing great pleasure to the large number of media representatives and the visiting public who, once again, were very appreciative of the welcoming and quality atmosphere of the event. This 80th edition finished with very positive results, and the dates for next year have already been fixed for March 3-13, 2011.More than 11,000 representatives from the written, audio-visual and electronic media from all over the globe were welcomed to PALEXPO for the two press days on March 2-3, 2010. Extensive media coverage throughout the world emanated from 75 press conferences organised by the car manufacturers, the presence of many famous personalities, and special events organised within the framework of the Motor Show.The provisional results from a survey of the visiting public shows that the Geneva International Motor Show rates as the most international in the world with around 40% arriving from outside Switzerland. Some 692,000 visitors thronged through the 7 exhibition halls of Palexpo during the 11 days it was open to the public. They particularly appreciated the different visions of the future of transportation that were on show.“The attendance result is almost 7 % higher than last year and achieved the goals we had set” affirmed Mr. Luc Argand, President of the Motor Show. “however, our goal was not to beat our previous attendance records, but to provide visitors with the best conditions and greatest comfort possible, which we succeeded in doing again this year, according to our visitors.” The 2011 edition will take place from March 3-13, 2011 at GENEVA PALEXPO. > > more

European car sales up in February
New car sales in Europe rose by 3.2% in February compared with the same month a year earlier, but fell almost 30% in Germany as its scrappage scheme ended. A total of 1,000,754 new passenger cars were registered in the 28 countries monitored by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA). Slumping sales in Germany were offset by gains in countries such as Italy and the UK which still have stimulus plans. Toyota saw its European sales fall 20% after a massive recall hurt the brand. After negative publicity over reports of problems with acceleration and braking in some models, the firm sold just 42,234 cars in February, compared with 53,233 the same month a year ago. The decline in car purchases in Germany meant that Volkswagen saw sales drop by 2.2%. In the UK, overall sales rose 26.4%, while they added 18.2% in France, 20.6% in Italy and 47% in Spain. But sales in several eastern European countries saw a sharp fall. > > more

VDA-ITA choses MHP expert as head of innovation
Frankfurt, January 2010 - Carsten Weber automotive and innovation management expert of the process and IT consultancy Mieschke Hofmann und Partner (MHP) has been elected into the strategical control-circuit of ITA (information technology of the automotive industry).The organization emphasis with this election the topic "IT innovation". Frankfurt am Main, 1st January 2010 - The VDA-ITA decided at its plenum at the end 2009 to personalize the topic "innovation". Carsten Weber, head of product and innovation management at the process and IT consultancy Mieschke Hofmann und Partner (MHP) hat been elected into the strategical control-circuit and approves this new position. "Germany will stay competitive, if companies focus on their strengths such as innovation and quality. I am very proud to be able to draft and combine IT innovation as the official contact person and furthermore to transfer this knowledge into the automotive industry."
